The Heirs of Velinwood

The Heirs of Velinwood

(Filed under: Court Members – Bloodline and Legacy)

They are not copies, but living halves of her.

Faith, the Eldest.
Bearer of heart and truth. His voice rings without lies, his hands carry empathy and sacrifice. He is the steadfast light, the one who believes when others falter, the one who stands where others fall away. Faith will keep the Court true. His is the steady flame, the open hand, the vow that the crown will not be corrupted.

Fire, the Youngest.
Brilliant and creative, music in his blood and a builder’s mind in his hands. Obstinate, dangerous, self-protective and sharp. Fire will keep the Court building, alive, unbroken. His is the spark that refuses to dim, the refusal that remakes the kingdom.

Together they are the balance and the contradiction—one hand open, one fist closed. Faith keeps the Court true. Fire keeps it alive. Both will protect, though each in their own way.

And yet—intrigue whispers in the corridors: when the Queen is gone, which hand will the crown choose—the open, or the closed? Or will the heirs prove, as their mother did, that power must be carried in both?

What the Court fears most, however, is not their opposition. It is their rare alliance. For when Faith defends Fire with his fist, when sacrifice and brilliance align—nothing stands untouched. They do not do it often, preferring instead to battle each other about what is true. Faith always cracking under the weight of his heart. Fire always casually forgetting that it was his spark that set the blaze.

They are most dangerous when they fight together instead of against each other.

Interjection from Princess Emma, Their Highness of Contradictions (and Cutlery):

“I did not request heirs. I was here first.
The Queen is mine.
These boys are loud, untrustworthy, and entirely too tall.
Faith stares at me like I’m holy. Fire smirks like he’s planning something.
I do not trust either.
…but they feed me walnuts, so I allow their existence.
Touch the Queen without my permission and you lose a finger. Consider this law.”

Margin Note (Bunny):

"Faith: earnest, bleeding, stubborn about truth. Fire: casually starting infernos and whistling like it wasn’t him.
They fight like cats in the archives, but let them stand shoulder to shoulder? The Court had better duck. Terrifying little heirs. Still ours.

Emma remains unimpressed. She’d overthrow the entire bloodline if she thought the crown fit her head. Unfortunately, she is right—she was here first."
